Il trio composto da corno, eufonio e tuba ha un suo colore particolare. Il suono è rotondo, ricco e morbido, e proprio da queste caratteristiche nasce l’idea del titolo: “Trio di Velluto”. La composizione è strutturata in quattro movimenti. Il primo, Fanfare, è un gioioso e incalzante brano di apertura. Il secondo, Capricious Waltz, un elegante valzer ricco di piccole sorprese. Nel Larghetto cantabile, terzo movimento, una romantica melodia da sfoggio al lirismo degli strumenti. E per ultimo Ragtime: un movimento con un ritmo accattivante e con il giusto swing per chiudere in bellezza il trio.

The trio for horn, euphonium and tuba has its own particular color. The sound is round, rich and soft, and these characteristics were the inspiration for the title: "Trio di Velluto". The composition is structured in four movements. The first, Fanfare, is a joyful and pressing opening piece. The second, Capricious Waltz, is an elegant waltz full of little surprises. In the Larghetto Cantabile, third movement, a romantic melody shows off the lyricism of the instruments. And finally, Ragtime: a movement with a captivating rhythm and with the right swing to finish the trio in style.
